About

Hey! My name is Richard(quite boomer I’m aware) and this is my blog where I hope to dispense wisdom about these 3 topics:

  1. Preparing for your future
  2. Mastering your mindset
  3. Navigating life’s crossroads

Before I get into what these mean you are definitely wondering why I am qualified so let me explain.

My story begins in a small suburban town in the Midwest. I was born from Chinese immigrant parents, who owned a restaurant. My entire life revolved around this restaurant–if I wasn’t at school or extracurriculars, I was at the restaurant. My parents instilled in me the belief that education was important and the key to succeed in life.

This image essentially sums up my entire childhood

One could say the restaurant life scared me straight because I took these words to heart and tried my best in all my classes. I studied hard and earned a perfect score on the ACT, I attended UC Berkeley and received a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences, and I received a 6-figure job offer to work in NYC.

Through this journey I learned that mindset + actionable steps can take you anywhere and I want to share my lessons with anyone who resonates with my story.

So what will my blog talk about?

Preparing for your future

At every stage of your life, your current decisions will impact your future decisions. How can we make the right decisions? You will never know. However, what you can do is make the decision that opens up the most doors for your future. I will discuss how this concept relates to your academics, career, and relationships.

Mastering your mindset

We are all given 24 hours a day, yet some people are further along in life then others. Some of this is due to situations out of our control like family and genetics. Nonetheless, how we decide to approach our lives after these uncontrollable factors matters much more! I will discuss how to master your mind and setup systems to help you succeed.

Navigating life’s crossroads

Everyone encounters a moment in their life when everything changes from familiar to uncertainty. Whether that is going from middle school to high school, moving different states, or starting a new job, uncertainty makes us uncomfortable. What most people don’t realize, unfortunately, is that transitional periods are extremely important moments for us to capitalize upon. I will discuss the implications of crossroads and how to navigate them to maximize your growth.
